Selection guidance

Plan the complete application before choosing a product

Use these points to organise the material, route, dimensions and operating information needed for a practical review.

Work backward from the finished ground screw

Ground screw equipment is easier to specify when the pipe, tapered end, spiral profile, weld position and finished length are reviewed as one process. A machine maximum on its own does not confirm that the complete part can be produced.

Prepare and taper the pipe end

The tapering stage combines the tube duty, forming length and tooling with the heating method. The pipe diameter and wall thickness determine the tapering model under review, while the induction furnace is matched to the heating load and production sequence. Tube material, cut length and end condition should be confirmed before tooling.

Position and weld the spiral

The forming and welding stage controls how strip is placed around the pipe and joined in a coordinated operation. The review needs the pipe diameter, strip width and thickness, pitch, spiral length, welding requirement and the way the part will be loaded and unloaded.

Treat the machines as linked stations

Output depends on more than the nominal speed of one unit. Heating, tapering, spiral preparation, welding, inspection and material handling must be balanced. If an existing line already performs some operations, the missing station should be scoped around those interfaces.

Information to send

  • Finished ground screw drawing
  • Pipe diameter, wall thickness, material and cut length
  • Tapered length and final end geometry
  • Spiral strip dimensions, pitch and welded length
  • Required production rate and shift pattern
  • Existing upstream and downstream equipment

The current category covers pipe preparation and spiral forming/welding equipment. A complete turnkey line should only be quoted after every included station and responsibility has been confirmed.
