Working principle
The insert induces swirl and mixing in tube-side fluid. This increases near-wall velocity and helps reduce the insulating effect of the thermal boundary layer.
Quotation information
Please provide tube size, material, tape width, twist requirement, length and operating environment. The final selection depends on the equipment and heat-transfer objective.
Typical equipment roles
Twisted tape inserts are considered for tube-side duties in heat exchangers, firetube boilers and other tubular process equipment. Their purpose is to encourage controlled fluid mixing, so the design needs to balance heat-transfer gain with pressure-drop allowance.
Material selection
Carbon steel, aluminium, stainless steel and copper are available reference materials. The service temperature, fluid chemistry, tube construction and maintenance approach determine which option is appropriate for a project.

Frequently asked questions
Use these answers as a starting point. Final geometry, material and equipment scope are confirmed from the project information.
What dimensions are needed for a twisted tape quotation?
Provide tube inside diameter, tape width and thickness, twist pitch or ratio, finished length, material, quantity and the required end or retention details.
Can a twisted tape be selected from tube diameter alone?
No. Fit, twist geometry, material, operating environment, pressure-drop allowance and installation or removal method should be reviewed together.
Which material information should be supplied?
State the requested grade and describe the fluid, operating temperature and corrosion conditions so the material choice can be checked against the application.
Can an existing insert be used as a reference?
A sample, drawing or clear dimensioned photographs can support a replacement review. Final manufacture still requires an agreed geometry and material specification.
What installation details are relevant?
Identify tube length, access direction, retention method, tube-end restrictions and whether the insert must be removable for inspection or cleaning.
