What it is

A shaftless auger flight assembly is an open-centre helix supplied as a finished or partly finished screw section. It does not use a continuous pipe through the centre of the flight. That construction makes the assembly, its joints and its end interfaces part of the product definition.

Geometry review

The flight profile alone is not enough for quotation. The drawing should state outside diameter, inside opening, pitch, section width and thickness, hand and overall length. If diameter or pitch changes, provide a schedule showing where each change begins and ends.

Assembly and connection details

Identify whether the order is for individual straight sections or a joined assembly. Show joint positions, end plates, drive stubs, support points and any orientation marks needed during installation. The final scope is confirmed from the approved assembly drawing.

When to choose this option

Choose a shaftless assembly when the conveyor or process design specifically requires an open centre. If the flight will be welded to a tube or solid shaft, use a shafted auger assembly instead. For loose single-pitch segments, review the sectional spiral blade.

Can an existing shaftless screw be replaced from a sample?
