Matched screw flights for a twin-screw mixing arrangement

Screw flight

Twin-Screw Mixing Flight Set

Matched screw flight sets for twin-shaft mixing and conveying assemblies, reviewed for hand, phase, centre distance and clearance.

Engineering fit

Built around the dimensions, material and production target that matter

A coordinated pair of helical flights specified as one working set where hand, pitch, phase and clearance must be checked together.

Use the stated range as a practical starting point. We confirm the final configuration against your drawing, material and operating conditions.

What it is

A twin-screw mixing flight set consists of two coordinated helical components that operate on adjacent shafts. Unlike two unrelated augers, the pair must be checked for relative hand, pitch, phase, centre distance and running clearance.

Define the pair as one assembly

Provide a plan or cross-section showing both shaft centres and the intended direction of rotation. The drawing should identify the left and right component, the angular datum used to set phase and the minimum clearance between flights, shafts and casing.

Material and surface review

Carbon steel and stainless steel versions are represented in the available product material. Select the grade from the product being handled, cleaning method, corrosion conditions and welding requirements. Any hygienic finish or special surface condition must be stated separately and confirmed in the quotation.

Loose flights or complete shafts

The set can be reviewed as loose flighting for the buyer to assemble or as a more complete shafted arrangement. Loose supply requires clear weld and phase instructions. A finished assembly also needs shaft, hub, drive-end, bearing and overall straightness requirements.

When to choose this option

Use this product route when two screws interact inside the same mixer or conveyor. For a single screw welded to one centre member, use the shafted auger assembly. If pitch changes along either screw, include the information listed for variable-pitch screw flight.

Quote checklist

  • Complete left- and right-side drawings
  • Shaft centre distance and casing or trough section
  • OD, root or shaft fit, pitch, thickness and hand for both flights
  • Rotation direction and phase datum
  • Minimum flight-to-flight and flight-to-casing clearance
  • Carbon steel or stainless steel grade
  • Loose-flight or complete-shaft supply scope
  • Drive, support, welding and inspection details
  • Material being mixed and required quantity

Frequently asked questions

Use these answers as a starting point. Final geometry, material and equipment scope are confirmed from the project information.

Why must both screws be quoted as a set?

Centre distance, opposite or matching hand, phase and running clearance affect how the two screws work together. Reviewing only one flight can miss an interference or assembly issue.

What is the difference between hand and rotation direction?

Flight hand describes the helix geometry. Rotation direction describes how the installed shaft turns. Both must be shown for each side of the machine.

Can the flights be supplied loose for welding to our shafts?

Loose matched flights can be reviewed. Provide both shaft drawings, weld locations, phase datums and the checking method used after assembly.

Are carbon steel and stainless steel options available?

Both materials appear in the available product record. The exact grade, surface requirement and suitability for the product being mixed must be confirmed before quotation.
